全剧在全国广播公司(NBC)首播，于1994年9月22日开播，至2004年5月6日落幕，共10季236集。
故事设定在纽约曼哈顿的一个朋友圈子中，描述六个普通青年的情感起伏、事业波折和生活的喜怒哀乐，手携手一起走过十年风雨。而他们的生活细节却是那么真实，深深地吸引着众多电视观众。
本剧拥有广大的收视群体，并收获普遍好评，每季的收视均位列年度前十，曾创造5300万人的单集收视纪录，其大结局亦吸引5250万人观看直播。全剧获得黄金时段艾美奖提名62项次，其间于2002年赢得喜剧类最佳剧集。[3] 美国《电视剧》杂志于2007年评出史上100大美剧，本剧登居榜首。
